Terms of Service (draft)

The short version of what you agree to when you use the app.

Draft, pending lawyer review

Talk with a Philosopher is for adults. You must be 18 or older to use it. By continuing past the onboarding you confirm that you are, and that you understand you are talking to an AI.

The app offers reflection and conversation. It is not a substitute for professional care. It does not provide therapy, counselling, medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and nothing a philosopher says should be taken as any of those. If you are struggling, please reach out to a licensed professional.

The app is not an emergency service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 112, the European emergency number, or your local emergency number. The app shows a helpline for your country whenever a conversation needs one.

Replies are generated by a language model and may be inaccurate, incomplete or mistaken, including about the philosophers' own works. Use your own judgement, and do not rely on the app for legal, financial, medical or safety decisions.

Please use the app as intended: for honest reflection on your own life. Do not use it to harass or harm anyone, to attempt to extract unsafe content, to impersonate a person, or to break the law. We may limit or end access when these rules are broken.

Free access includes Socrates and Seneca. Premium plans unlock every philosopher and the full journal. Prices are shown in euros and include VAT; the exact rate for your country is shown at checkout. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial, one per account, and you can cancel at any time, as easily as you subscribed. Cancel before the trial ends and you will not be charged. Payments are handled by Paddle as the merchant of record, and their checkout terms apply to the purchase.

As a consumer in the European Union you have a 14-day right of withdrawal from a paid subscription. Because the service starts during those 14 days, you will be asked at checkout to agree to that and to acknowledge that the right of withdrawal is then lost for the period already used; cancelling at any time remains possible. These terms are governed by the laws of Hungary. Any dispute arising from or relating to the app or these terms is to be settled by the competent courts of Hungary in Budapest, except where consumer protection law lets you bring a claim before the courts of the country where you live. To be confirmed in the legal review.

The app is offered in the European Union and the European Economic Area, in English for now. These terms will be finalised before the public launch, and the version you accept at that time will replace this draft.
